Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates for drilled shaft and auger cast foundation projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary data and insights for accurate pricing.
- Develop comprehensive bid proposals, including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor costs.
- Supervise construction endeavors, ensuring seamless alignment with design, budget, and schedule.
- Orchestrate on-site functions encompassing scheduling, engineering, material control, and administrative tasks.
- Provide adept technical assistance, interpret drawings, propose construction methods, and manage extra work estimating.
- Shoulder accountability for contractual performance.
- Utilize estimating software and tools to quantify project scope, costs, and timelines effectively.
- Evaluate project risks and opportunities, recommending strategies to enhance project profitability and competitiveness.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, pricing, and market conditions to optimize bidding strategies.
- Participate in bid review meetings, presenting cost estimates and analysis to stakeholders.
- Support business development efforts by providing expertise in cost estimation and proposal preparation.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field; additional certifications in estimating or project management are advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in estimating/managing for drilled shaft foundation projects.
• Advanced knowledge drilled foundations means and methods.
- Robust analytical, organizational, and supervisory skills.
- Familiarity with construction law, particularly in federal, state, and city contexts.
- Strong oral and written communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to prepare accurate, detailed, and competitive costs estimates within tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, or equivalent).
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Detail-oriented approach with a focus on quality, accuracy, and adherence to project requirements.
- Willingness to travel occasionally and collaborate with teams across various U.S. locations.
- Valid Driver's License and ability to meet commercial insurance requirements
- Ability to lift, carry or hold 26-50 lbs. more than 10 times per day
- Ability to perform low posture, crouching, crawling, kneeling or squatting activities
- Ability to work occasional weekends, evenings and holidays
- Ability to clearly communicate with others and convey information effectively
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
- Ability to manage own time and the time of others
- Ability to motivate, develop and direct people
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources preferred
